For over two decades now, the
average play-goer has found
Michael Muthu a familiar name.
A few days before the curtains
rose on An Idiot For Dinner in
Chennai, we caught Michael
Muthu reminiscing instead about
his thespian journey so far… |

He’s played actor and
director of comedies,
three-act tragedies
and supper theatre
drama, and co-directed
a children’s pantomime (Pirates of The
Curried Beans). He’s organised the launch
of MTV in Chennai. His nineteen-yearold
theatre group, The Boardwalkers, is one
whose name rings a bell both in the city,
as well as outside. Several film credits
list him as an actor, and he’s currently
contemplating a film on the Thugee cult
of the 19th century. Oh! He has worked
with M Night Shyamalan. And, Michael
Muthu’s had a whole lot of fun doing it
all. “I’ve had two corporate jobs in the
past twenty years, and each lasted a year.
But, all my evenings have been jampacked
with rehearsals,” jokes... |
