MYTH 1: Kalari Payattu could have
been learnt if
I’d started at age 13 |

 FACT: OK. The younger you are, the
more flexible your body is. That’s a given.
But the great part with Kalari is that if
you put in enough practice, nothing
is impossible! Down the years, Kalari
Payattu had been taught to children
when they are young, when their bodies
are malleable, and when techniques are
easy to grasp. But, given the fact that we
live in cosmopolitan Chennai, and have
just about learnt of this ancient art form,
it’s fair game for anyone. From personal
experience, I have realised that with
adequate practice and concentration,
even the stiffest of bodies gain flexibility
in time. The splits and the jumps are
a daunting prospect for novices, but... |
